FreeShipping.org Continues Growth, Adds New Web 2.0 Features
[Fort Collins, CO, February 19, 2009] – Even in the worst recession since the Great Depression, FreeShipping.org continues to grow. The site, which is a one-stop destination for consumers to find online retailers that offer free shipping deals, recently debuted new features to make it even more appealing for visitors and retailers alike.
One of the main additions is My Favorite Coupons, a section that allows visitors to create their own page that displays coupons to just their favorite stores. In addition, consumers can sign up to have a daily or weekly e-mail sent with coupons from their favorite merchants.
FreeShipping.org also introduced an enhanced search engine function that offers suggestions when a specific product or store is entered. For example, if you type “shoes,” a dropdown menu of stores that offer the product are displayed, and a list of categories is featured (shoes, athletic shoes, casual shoes, children’s shoes, golf shoes, dress shoes, and men’s shoes).
“These enhancements are intended to make the site more user friendly for consumers and even more effective for retailers,” said Luke Knowles, who co-founded FreeShipping.org with his wife, Maisie, in December 2007.
A growing number of retailers are offering free shipping to entice consumers, Knowles says. FreeShipping.org recently surpassed 1,100 retailers who offer free shipping deals on the site. Knowles anticipates 1,500 by spring.
The sluggish economy has led many retailers to place a greater emphasis on free shipping, Knowles says. “Retailers are doing everything they can to reach consumers,” Knowles said. “Now that we're established and we have a track record of success, retailers are approaching us to be part of the site. The continued growth shows that retailers believe FreeShipping.org is a viable way to attract consumers.
