Orlando Coupon Resources

Sun, energy, and mouse ears are in top supply in sunny Orlando.  As one of the country's most visiting destinations, Orlando is a haven of fun for tourists of all ages.  Whether you come to pay homage to the Magic Kingdom or prefer the downtown scene, Orlando has a buffet of attractions from which to choose.  Staying on budget can be tough with entrance admission prices inching up each year, so check out our tips here before traveling.

What to see in Orlando
A trip to Disney World is the equivalent of visiting the holy land for families across the U.S.! Disney is at the top of most Florida itineraries, and for good reason. The largest recreational attraction in the world is visited by more than 25 million tourists every year.  Planning the nuts and bolts of your trip is the most difficult part.

If you aren't restricted by school calendars travel between the second weekend in September until mid-May to get the most out of your trip.  You'll avoid longer lines and get better hotel rates.  Another insider tip--start your visit on a Thursday. Most travelers are in transition coming or going from vacations on Friday and Saturday. And review all the theme parks to ensure the visit fits your family's needs and interests.

If you'd rather escape the throngs Disney pilgrims, head downtown for a tour of historic buildings. From delicate Victorian homes to early 20th century retail buildings, the 60 sites that make the Historic District make for a delightful afternoon stroll. The Social is a local downtown hangout with great live music, definitely off the touristy path.  Take the Kennedy Space Center tour to get a first hand glimpse of the international space station, observation gantry, and Apollo/Saturn V center. Keep Winter Park in mind as good attraction alternative to the big Disney crowds.  Ocala's Horse Farm Country offers a relaxing alternative to business with tours and rides offered throughout the day.

Other attractions to put on the list include Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Islands of Adventure. If you're traveling on a budget, get a GO Orlando card ($60-200) to save on many area-wide attractions.

Insider tips about Orlando
Watch your speed on Interstate 4!  This stretch of road is a favorite speed trap for tourists going from downtown to Disney.  A nasty sunburn can ruin a trip, and that is especially true in Florida.  Lather up and stay in the shade as much as possible.

Where to eat in Orlando
While many travelers to Orlando prefer the chain restaurants for picky young eaters, Orlando has a surprisingly varied cuisine.  A high dollar contender for tastiest dinner is Manuel's on Twenty-Eighth--with a high rise view and exquisite entrees, it's tough to beat.  Newcomer Journey's Restaurant offers a European twist to old favorites.  Don't miss the Flying Fish Cafe in Epcot Center for fresh seafood and the memorable lava cake (yes, it even oozes chocolate liquid).
