What to avoid in Houston
If at all possible, plan your trip between September and April as the Texas heat (and humidity blowing in from the gulf) are blistering...unbearable at times.  Wear plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated!  And steer clear of the east side of Houston for safety purposes.
