Chicago Coupon Resources

Chicago attracts more than 40 million visitors each year and it's easy to see why.  The devastating fire of 1871 led to a boom in architecture and commerce that made Second City the thriving metropolis it is today. Traveling to Chicago can be a pricey venture, so take advantage of our coupons and insider tips before you go.

What to see in Chicago
You'll probably want to stay inside the loop for most of your stay to see typical Chicago sites.  It's easy to use the "El" (elevated trains) and just $12 gets you unlimited access to any line for 3 days, $18 for a five-day pass.  If you visit during the summer months, head to Michigan lake for a day of free fun in the sand and sun.  Not far away is the Magnificent Mile, a shopping Mecca with stores from Saks to Payless Shoes.  Go to the top of the Sear's tower while you're in the area for the best view of Chicago.

Navy Pier is another must for the itinerary.  While it is a somewhat touristy, the pier is free to walk and they have fireworks shows every Wednesday and Saturday during the summer.  Take the guided architecture tour that departs across the street--and get there at least 45 minutes early for prime seating on the boat!  Picnic in Lincoln Park, second in annual visitors only to Central Park, or take a jog down Lake Shore Drive.  Our favorite museum stops (and they are well worth the price of admission) are The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the Museum of Science and Industry.  The MSI is a hike away to Hyde Park but, by far, one of the best museums in the world.

Chicago's art scene is first class with many industry greats originating in the Windy City.  House of Blues, the Joffrey Ballet, Steepenwolf Theatre Company, and The Second City Improv are of particular note.  You can't go wrong with jazz bars or night clubs in downtown.

Where to eat in Chicago
Deep. Dish. Pizza. Giordono's.  Plan to wait awhile if you get there after six, but it's well worth it.  Try a Chicago-style hot dog from a street vendor--and don't get ketchup!  The largest food festival in the world, Taste of Chicago, takes place each year the last week of June to the 4th of July.  Locals like Avenue Ale House, Dock Street Cafe, and Da'Nali's Cafe, all inside the loop.
